First United Methodist Church recognizes how important the middle and high school years are - they are a time of challenge, change, and wonder as youth investigate who they are in the Lord. First UMC Youth Group helps teens on that journey of self-discovery and our youth are vibrant and vital members of the church community.

Typical Youth Group Schedule

We meet most Sunday evenings throughout the school year (6th - 12th grades). This is a time for fellowship and building strong Christian relationships while including some fun activities. The Tweens (4th & 5th graders) also have special evening programming from time to time on Sunday nights!

Our typical schedule:

  • 5:00 pm - 5:45 pm - Dinner
  • 5:45 pm - 7:00 pm - Programming

We also attend retreats, have Lock-Ins at the church, and participate in service projects throughout the year.

*** Summer Schedule: There will be no Sunday evening meetings for the summer, but there are summer fun hours! Find our Director of Children & Youth, Alex Erwine, at Penn Park on Thursdays from 1pm to 3pm. We can play on the playground, start a game of kickball, or just hang out and chat! Look out for more fun events throughout the summer!

Youth Sunday School

Sunday school meets from 9:45 am - 10:45 am most Sundays.* This is a time for biblical teachings. As of September 2016, we are only offering youth Sunday School classes for 6-8th grade. High school students are invited to participate in a worship service or join in on an adult Sunday School class or other small group opportunity, but there is also high school small group that meets monthly - contact Alex for more details!

*There is no Sunday School on the first Sunday of each month. This is "Service Sunday" when all of our youth are asked to attend and participate in our 9:45 am service or serve in a younger age Sunday School class as a helper.

For more information about youth programming, please contact Alex Erwine, our Director of Discipleship for Youth & Children.
