Get Connected with Each Other

One of the most meaningful aspects of church life is our connection with other people who share the journey of Christian faith. It is through other people that God often comes to us; and it is through us that God often reaches out to others in love. First United Methodist Church encourages everyone to connect with a small group or ministry. When we become involved in the lives of other people we grow more Christ-like in our living. Check out these opportunities to get connected with others:

  • Adult Ministries

Our Adult Ministries are designed to prepare, challenge, and inspire women and men to a life of Christian discipleship. Our Sunday School classes, as well as information on our ministries that are focused on Women & Men can all be found in this section. If you have a question or a suggestion about our Adult Ministries, please contact Lara Upton, Nurture Ministry Chair.

  • Children's Ministries

At First UMC, we strive to provide programs where children experience God's love in action and find guidance in sharing God's Word with others. Our goal is to provide a loving and accepting environment. For more information about our Children's Ministry programs, please contact Alex Erwine, our Director of Discipleship for Youth & Children.

  • Letter From Lay Leadership

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

By now, most of you are aware that the General Conference of the United Methodist Church rejected the recommendations of the Bishops’ Council and the Commission on the Way Forward and approved a Traditional plan which maintains the denomination's prohibition on the ordination of LGBTQAI+ persons and prohibits all UMC pastors from performing same sex marriage ceremonies. • Service Opportunities In First UMC

We are a growing community!  There are many ways to get involved within First UMC.

  • Young Adults

We have an active Young Adult Ministry (roughly 18-35 year-olds) that includes a weekly small group, an inter-denominational meet-up group, and we also offer many opportunities for service and outreach.  You can find most of our young adults on Sunday mornings in the 9:45 Contemporary service although there are many who also appreciate and frequent our other services as well. If you have any questions or a suggestions about our Young Adult Ministry, please contact Meredith Rose, Young Adult Coordinator.

  • Youth Ministry

First United Methodist Church recognizes how important the middle and high school years are - they are a time of challenge, change, and wonder as youth investigate who they are in the Lord. First UMC Youth Group helps teens on that journey of self-discovery and our youth are vibrant and vital members of the church community.
